SENAIKILANGU VARUVAL/ YAM STIR FRY

Ingredients
  • Senaikilangu (yam) chopped - 1 cup
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • FOR MASALA:
  • Coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Dried red chilli -5
  • Cinnaman- 1 inch
  • cloves -2
  • Ginger,garlic- chopped
  • Fennal seed - 1 tsp
  • cumin(jeere)- 1/2 tsp
  • TO TEMPER:
  • Oil- 2 tbsp
  • mustard seed-1/2 tsp
  • curry leaves - few
Directions
  • Step 1 Peel off the skin of the yam and chop it
  • Step 2 Wash it with water and boil with salt, turmeric cook until done.
  • Step 3 Drain and keep aside.
  • Step 4 Take half cup of coconut
  • Step 5 Add dried red chilli, fennal seed , cumin seeds, cinnamon,cloves, Ginger garlic then graind the smooth paste .keep it aside
  • Step 6 Take the pan & heat the oil
  • Step 7 Add mustard seeds let it splutter.
  • Step 8 Add curry leaves
  • Step 9 Add cooked Senaikilangu(yam) and saute for two minutes in low flame .
  • Step 10 Add masala paste and mix it well
  • Step 11 Cover the lid cook for 10 minutes
  • Step 12 Once masala’s absorbed,  Its ready to serve.

MAKING OF SENAIKILANGU VARUVAL/ YAM STIR FRY:

 

  1. Peel off the skin of the yam and chop it

BOIL

 

2. Wash it with water and boil with salt, turmeric cook until done.

3. Drain and keep aside.

DRAIN

 

4. Take half cup of coconut

5. Add dried red chilli, fennal seed , cumin seeds, cinnamon,cloves, Ginger garlic then graind the smooth paste.Keep it aside

6. Take the pan & heat the oil

7. Add mustard seeds let it splutter.

8. Add curry leaves

CURRY

 

9. Add cooked Senaikilangu(yam) and saute for two minutes in low flame .

SAUTE

 

10. Add masala paste and mix it well

MASALA

 

11. Cover the lid cook for 10 minutes

12. Once masala’s absorbed,  Its ready to serve.

READY

 

13. This varuval tastes great with Dal, Rasam / Rice combination.
