Is there anybody in the world who doesn’t like fried recipes ? Banana Bajji | vazhakkai bajji is one of the most famous evening snack in southern part of india. In monsoon season , people prefer to have these kind of fried snack along the Tea or Coffee. In this recipe, we have used home made bajji mix which can prepared in less than 10 minutes. Serve it with coconut chutney to enjoy your time evening with beloved ones.

BANANA BAJJI RECIPE / VAZHAKKAI BAJJI /ARATIKAYA BAJJI / BALEKAI BAJJI . preparation with step by step photos and quick video.
Ingredients
- raw plantain (raw banana) -1
- Besan (gram flour) - 1 cup
- Idli batter - 2 tbsp
- Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
- Hing (asafoetida) - pinch
- Salt - to taste
- Water -½ cup
- Baking soda - ¼ th tsp
- Oil for deep fry
Directions
- Step 1 In a mixing bowl, add besan flour
- Step 2 Add red chilli powder
- Step 3 Add baking soda
- Step 4 Add salt to taste
- Step 5 Add hing ( asafoetida)
- Step 6 Add idli batter for fluffiness . (you could also use rice flour instead of idli batter)
- Step 7 Add water. (Add water little by little to form a thick batter)
- Step 8 Make it to thick paste without any lumps and keep it aside.
- Step 9 Peel off the raw banana’s edges.
- Step 10 Slice them using a slicer. Don’t make the slices very thick. If it’s think, it will not get cooked.
- Step 11 Dip each banana slice in the batter, turn to coat well on both the sides.
- Step 12 Slowly drop into hot oil and deep fry in medium flame. (High flame will burn the batter and low flame would consume more oil)
- Step 13 Turn over frying banana bajji to cook well on both sides until it becomes golden brown.
- Step 14 Drain it in tissue paper.
- Step 15 Serve the hot banana bajjis with coconut chutney & masala chai. – yummy combo…
