Ingredients
- Broken Wheat - ½ cup
- Jaggery - 1 cup
- Milk - 1 cup
- Thick Coconut Milk - 1 cup
- Ghee - 2 tbsp
- Water -3 cups
- Cardamom powder -¼ tsp
- Coconut pieces -2 tbsp
- Cashew (Kaju) -10 whole
- Raisins (kishmish)-2 tbsp
- Salt -1 tiny pinch
Directions
- Step 1 Take a pressure cooker and add ghee
- Step 2 Add broken wheat and saute it for 3-5 mins.
- Step 3 Add 3 cups of water
- Step 4 Pressure cook for 4-5 whistles in low medium flame. Once pressure releases fluff it up and set aside.
- Step 5 Take a pan add jaggery
- Step 6 Add water and mix it well
- Step 7 Boil 2 minutes or until the jaggery melts completely.
- Step 8 Filter the jaggery water into the cooked broken wheat mixture. Mix it well
- Step 9 Add milk and Keep stirring. Let it cook for another 8-10mins in low flame.
- Step 10 Add coconut milk and mix it well
- Step 11 Add a pinch of salt
- Step 12 Add Cardamom powder and mix it well. When it’s starting to boil switch off immediately.
- Step 13 Take a tadka pan and add ghee
- Step 14 Add coconut pieces and fry until golden brown.
- Step 15 Add cashew and saute it until golden brown
- Step 16 Add raisins and saute it well
- Step 17 Add the fried coconut, cashews and kishmish into the cooked broken wheat mixture.
- Step 18 Serve the Godhuma Rava Payasam hot or chilled on any festive occasion.
