In Tamilnadu, sambar Sadam is very often made in many homes. In Karnataka, it’s called “Bisi Bele Bath” but taste differs a lot.

Ingredients
- Rice - 1 cup
- Toor dal - ½ cup
- Moong dal -¼ cup
- Tomato - 1 chopped
- Onion - ¼ th cup
- Tamarind extract -¼ th cup
- Oil -2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds -1 tsp
- Ghee -1 tbsp
- Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp chopped
- Curry leaves -few
- salt to taste
- Vegetables:
- Carrot - 1 nos
- Beans - 5 nos
- Peas - ½ cup
- Radish (mullangi / muli) - 1 chopped
- Drumsticks- 1 chopped
- To roast and grind:
- Oil- 1 tsp
- Dried red chilli -7
- Chana dal - 2 tbsp
- Urad dal -1 tsp
- Coriander seeds - 2 tbsp
- Jeera(Cumin) - 1 tsp
- Fenugreek seeds - ¼ th tsp
- Asafoetida(Hing)- ¼ tsp
Directions
- Step 1 Take a pan and add oil
- Step 2 Add dried red chilli and saute it well
- Step 3 Add coriander seeds
- Step 4 Add chana dal
- Step 5 Add urad dal and roast in low flame
- Step 6 Add fenugreek seed(methi seed)
- Step 7 Add jeera
- Step 8 Add Hing (Asafoetida) and saute it well
- Step 9 Once its cooldown, grind it as smooth powder and keep it aside.
- Step 10 Heat a pressure cooker and add oil
- Step 11 add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
- Step 12 Add onion and saute it well.
- Step 13 Add curry leaves and saute it well
- Step 14 Add chopped tomato and saute it well
- Step 15 Add chopped drumsticks
- Step 16 Add chopped beans
- Step 17 Add chopped carrots
- Step 18 Add radish (mullangi / muli)
- Step 19 Add peas and saute it well
- Step 20 Add turmeric powder
- Step 21 add salt and mix it well
- Step 22 Add soaked moong dal
- Step 23 Add soaked toor dal
- Step 24 Add soaked rice and mix it well
- Step 25 Add the prepared masala powder and saute it well
- Step 26 Add three cups of water and bring to boil
- Step 27 add tamarind extract and mix it well
- Step 28 Add coriander leaves and mix it well
- Step 29 Cover the lid and pressure cook in medium flame for 3 whistles
- Step 30 Once its done and mix it well. Ready to serve.

29. Cover the lid and pressure cook in medium flame for 3 whistle
30. Once it’s done and mix it well. Ready to serve.
