Ingredients
- Rice - 1 cup
- Moong Dhal - ¼ cup
- Onion - 1 cup
- Green chilli -2
- Tomato - 1
- Ginger Garlic paste - 1 tsp
- Water - 2 cups
- Turmeric powder - ¼ th tsp
- Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
- Coriander leaves -2 tbsp
- Mint leaves -1 tbsp
- Salt - to taste
- To Temper:
- Oil -2 tbsp
- Ghee - 1tbsp
- Cinnamon stick (Pattai/Dalchini) - ½ inch
- Cloves (Karampu/Lavang)-2
- Cardamom - 2
Directions
- Step 1 Take one cup of rice and half a cup of moong dal. Add water and soak it for 15 mins. Once it’s soaked, rinse it well and keep it aside.
- Step 2 Heat a pressure cooker and add oil.
- Step 3 Add ghee
- Step 4 Add cinnamon stick (Pattai/Dalchini)
- Step 5 Add cloves (Karampu/Lavang)
- Step 6 Add cardamom
- Step 7 Add onion and saute it well
- Step 8 Add ginger garlic paste
- Step 9 Add green chilli
- Step 10 Add mint leaves
- Step 11 Add coriander leaves and saute it well
- Step 12 Add chopped tomato and saute well
- Step 13 Add salt
- Step 14 Add turmeric powder
- Step 15 Add red chilli powder and saute it well
- Step 16 add soaked dal
- Step 17 Add soaked rice and mix it well
- Step 18 Add two cups of water bring to boil
- Step 19 Cover the lid and pressure cook in medium flame for 3 whistles
- Step 20 Give a quick stir. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
- Step 21 You can serve it with any vadams or any poriyal / varuval as per your choice

18. Cover the lid and pressure cook in medium flame for 3 whistles
19. Give a quick stir. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
20. You can serve it with any vadams or any poriyal / varuval as per your choice
