Kongunadu Mutton Varuval preparation with step by step photos and quick video. We will be just using the fully boiled mutton pieces to make this recipe. I have used the same pieces to make special mutton chukka using the boneless ones. Kongunadu Mutton Varuval is very famous in south Indian functions (Kida/keda virundhu @ TamilNadu). It has a great combination with rice. Kongunadu Mutton Varuval not only a mouth watering dish, it also makes us feel like we had a hearty non-veg meal .
KONGUNADU MUTTON FRY RECIPE / KONGUNADU MUTTON VARUVAL
Kongunadu mutton varuval easy to make and authentic kongunadu style.
Ingredients
- Mutton - 1 kg
- Onion - 1 chopped
- Green chilli - 2
- Tomato - 1
- Mutton masala powder- 1 tbsp
- Salt -to taste
- Coconut - 1/4 cup
- Oil -2 tbsp
- Mustard seed - 1/2 tsp
- coriander leaves - For garnish (finely chopped)
Directions
- Step 1 Take the pressure cooker and add oil
- Step 2 Add ginger garlic paste and saute well
- Step 3 Add mutton pieces
- Step 4 Add turmeric powder, salt to taste and saute well
- Step 5 Add water
- Step 6 Pressure cook for 5 whistles(or until soft) in medium low flame.Take the pan and heat the oil
- Step 7 Add mustrad seed and let it splutter
- Step 8 Then add curry leaves
- Step 9 Add thinly sliced onion and saute well.
- Step 10 Add green chilli
- Step 11 Add tomato and Saute till raw smell leaves and soft and mushy
- Step 12 Add mutton masala powder and Saute well till the masala nicely fried and blended.
- Step 13 Add mutton pieces mix it well
- Step 14 Add grated coconut and saute well
- Step 15 Once oil separates and mutton is nicely blended with the masala
- Step 16 Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice
