On a lazy day, idli podi sidedish is very helpful for everyone. Idli Milagai Podi is nothing but coarse of the spice mixture. You can either mix this powder with ghee, sesame oil or groundnut oil while serving it. If you visit any Chettinad restaurants, they serve idli milagai podi for idli/dosa along with ghee.

Ingredients
- Urad Dal- ½ cup
- Chana Dal - ¼ cup
- Dried Red Chillies-10
- Curry Leaves- few
- Asafoetida(hing)- 1 tsp
- Sesame Seeds -¼ cup
- Garlic- 3 cloves
- Oil- tsp
- Salt- to taste
Directions
- Step 1 Take a pan and add sesame seeds. Dry roast until its turn golden brown
- Step 2 Add oil
- Step 3 Add dried red chili. Roast in low flame until it turns crips
- Step 4 Add asafoetida(hing) and roast low flame
- Step 5 Add curry leaves and saute it until its turns crisp.
- Step 6 Add garlic and saute it well and keep it aside
- Step 7 Add oil
- Step 8 Add urad dal and saute it well
- Step 9 Add chana dal and saute it well until its turns golden brown
- Step 10 Keep it aside and allow to cool.
- Step 11 Add salt
- Step 12 Transfer to a blender and blend to a coarse powder.
- Step 13 Idli Milagai Podi is ready, store in an airtight container.

Note: The powder color texture depends on red chilies that you choose.
