This could be an ideal dessert for various occasions. Corn flour gives the same glossy and chewy texture as the lentil-based halwa recipe. The best of the recipe is that it can be easily preserved for weeks at least. Food color is completely optional one who doesn’t want to use food color, just skip that.

Bombay Karachi Halwa | Corn flour halwa preparation with step by step photos and a quick video.
Ingredients
- Corn flour -½ cup
- Sugar - 1 and ½ cups
- Water - 1 cup + 1 and ½ cups
- Ghee -¼ cup
- Cashew nuts - 2 tbsp
- Cardamom powder- ½ tsp
- Food color -¼ tsp
- Lemon juice -½ tsp
- Dry nuts-handful
Directions
- Step 1 Take a bowl and add cornflour
- Step 2 Add water and mix it well without any lumps.Keep it aside
- Step 3 Take a large pan and add sugar
- Step 4 add water and mix it well
- Step 5 Stir well until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Step 6 Add lemon juice and mix it well
- Step 7 Take cornflour mixture and pour it into the sugary water. Stir it continuously
- Step 8 Continue to stir until the mixture starts to thicken.
- Step 9 Add 2 tbsp of ghee and continue to mix until the ghee is well absorbed.
- Step 10 Adding ghee in batches until it absorbs completely.
- Step 11 Once the mixture turns glossy (after 30 minutes),
- Step 12 Add cardamom powder and mix it well
- Step 13 Add chopped cashew
- Step 14 Add red food color and mix it well until everything is well combined (optional)
- Step 15 After 40 minutes, the mixture will turn super glossy.
- Step 16 Once the mixture starts to release ghee, transfer the halwa mixture into the pan
- Step 17 sprinkle few chopped nuts and level it up.
- Step 18 Rest for 1 hour or until the halwa is set completely.
- Step 19 Cut Karachi halwa into pieces.
- Step 20 Enjoy the yummy Karachi halwa

17. Sprinkle a few chopped nuts and level it up.
18. Rest for 1 hour or until the halwa is set completely.
19. Cut Karachi halwa into pieces.
