Paal Kozhukattai Recipe | Using Jaggery and coconut milk preparation with step by step photos and a quick video. Paal Kozhukattai is a super delicious dish made using rice flour balls, sweetened jaggery sauce, and coconut milk. I don’t think anybody celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi without Kozhukattai. I prefer to make paal kozhukattai on such occasions and I love this recipe so much. Since we are using jaggery and coconut milk, I don’t mind having a couple of cups at least. I am making practice to keep myself away from white sugar as much as possible.

Paal Kozhukattai Recipe | Using Jaggery and coconut milk preparation with step by step photos and a quick video.
Ingredients
- Rice Flour/ Idiyappam flour – 1 cup
- Sesame oil – 1 tsp
- Hot water – ½ cup
- Salt – to taste
- For the Jaggery Syrup:
- Powdered Jaggery -1 cup
- Water – ¾ cup
- For The Milk Sauce :
- Coconut – 3 tbsp
- Milk – 1 cup
- Coconut Milk – 1 and ½ cup
- Water – ½ cup
- Cardamom Powder – ½ tsp
Directions
- Step 1 Add rice flour in bowl.(This is store-bought rice flour)
- Step 2 Add a salt pinch of salt.
- Step 3 Add sesame oil
- Step 4 Add hot water and mix it well
- Step 5 Knead it for 5 minutes and make a soft and smooth dough
- Step 6 Take a small ball sized dough and form small balls or in cylindrical shapes. Keep it aside
- Step 7 Take a pan to add jaggery
- Step 8 Add water and mix it well
- Step 9 Boil 2 minutes or until the jaggery melts completely. Keep it aside
- Step 10 Take a pan and add milk
- Step 11 Add water and let it bring to boil
- Step 12 When are starts to boiling add the balls and simmer it.
- Step 13 Cover the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes or until the balls turn soft. Stir it very carefully not breaking the balls.
- Step 14 Once the balls are cooked, add the coconut milk
- Step 15 Strain the prepared jaggery syrup and give a mix. If you have pure jaggery add it straight to the pan
- Step 16 Simmer for 2-3mins.
- Step 17 Add cardamom powder
- Step 18 Add grated coconut and mix it well
- Step 19 Allow for a short single boil and switch off.
- Step 20 Serve hot or chilled as per your wish and enjoy this delightful sweet.

17. Add cardamom powder
