PAVAKKAI PULIKULAMBU RECIPE/BITTER GOURD GRAVY Recipe easy to make with tamarind puree
Ingredients
- Bitter gourd -1/2 kg (pavakkai)
- Shallots -1 cup
- Green chilli-2
- Tomato - 2
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Sambar powder - 2 tbsp
- Salt - to taste
- Tamarind juice - 1/2 cup(small lemon size)
- Grated coconut -1/2 cup
- To Temper:
- Oil-2 tbsp
- Mustard -1/2 tsp
- Curry leave -1 sprig
Directions
- Step 1 Take the pan & heat the oil
- Step 2 Add mustrad seed and let it splutter
- Step 3 Add chopped Shallot and saute well.
- Step 4 Add green chilli and saute well
- Step 5 Add curry leaves and saute well
- Step 6 Add tomato and saute well
- Step 7 Add turmeric powder, salt to taste,sambar powder and saute well till raw smell leaves and soft
- Step 8 Add Bitter gourd (pavakkai)and Saute well for 3 mins
- Step 9 once oil sperates add tamarind juice and water mix it well and cover the lid cook for 10 mins
- Step 10 once cooked the bitter gourd(pavakkai)add grated coconut and saute well
- Step 11 serve hot with steamed rice
