Ladies Finger(Bhindi) Coconut Gravy /Arachu vitta Vendakai Kuzhambu
Ladies Finger(Bhindi) Coconut Gravy /Arachu vitta Vendakai Kuzhambu preparation with step by step photos and a quick video.
Ingredients
- Lady's finger (bhindi / okra) - 15
- Shallots (small onion) - ¼ th cup
- Green chilli -2
- Curry leaves - few
- Tomato - 2 chopped
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Salt - to taste
- Coriander leaves - 1 tsp
- Tamarind extract - ¼ cup
- For Masala:
- Coconut - 1/2 cup
- Coriander Seeds - 2 tsp
- Jeera - 1tsp
- Pepper - 1/2 tsp
- Garlic - 6
- Red chilli - 5
- Curry leaves - few
- Asafoetida(Hing)- ¼ tsp
Directions
- Step 1 Take a mixer and add coconut
- Step 2 Add coriander seeds
- Step 3 Add red chilli
- Step 4 Add jeera
- Step 5 Add pepper
- Step 6 Add garlic
- Step 7 Add Asafoetida(hing)
- Step 8 Add curry leaves
- Step 9 Grind it in to smooth paste. Keep it aside.
- Step 10 Take a kadai and add oil
- Step 11 Add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
- Step 12 Add chopped Lady’s finger (bhindi / okra) saute it until changes colour to dark green.
- Step 13 Add shallots (small onion)
- Step 14 Add green chilli and curry leaves and saute it well
- Step 15 Add tomato and saute it well
- Step 16 Add salt,turmeric powder and saute it well until tomato soft and mushy
- Step 17 Add ground masala paste and saute it for a minutes
- Step 18 Add tamarind extract and mix it well
- Step 19 Add required water and mix it well
- Step 20 Cover the lid and cook it for 10 minutes
- Step 21 Add coriander leaves and mix it well
- Step 22 Serve it with white Rice

1. Take a mixer and add coconut
2. Add coriander seeds
3. Add red chilli
4. Add jeera
5. Add pepper
6. Add garlic
7. Add Asafoetida(Hing)
8. Add curry leaves
9. Grind it in to smooth paste. Keep it aside.
10. Take a kadai and add oil
11. Add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
12. Add chopped Lady’s finger (bhindi/okra) saute it until changes colour to dark green.
13. Add shallots (small onion)
14. Add green chilli and curry leaves and saute it well
15. Add tomato and saute it well
16. Add salt, turmeric powder and saute it well until tomato soft and mushy
17. Add the ground masala paste and saute it for a minutes
18. Add tamarind extract and mix it well
19. Add required water and mix it well
20. Cover the lid and cook it for 10 minutes
21. Add coriander leaves and mix it well
22. Serve it with White Rice
