Ingredients
- For cake:
- All-Purpose Flour / Maida - 1½ cup
- Brown Sugar - ½ cup
- Baking powder - 1 tsp
- Salt - ¼ tsp
- Egg - 1
- Melted Butter or Oil - ¼ cup
- Milk - ½ cup
- Vanilla Extract - 1 tsp
- Dates - 1 cup, roughly chopped
- For Sauce:
- Brown sugar - 1 cup
- Butter - 6 tsp
- Boiling Water - 500 ml
Directions
- Step 1 Preheat oven to 180 degree Celsius( 350 degrees F). Grease the pan with butter and keep it aside
- Step 2 Take a large bowl and add brown sugar
- Step 3 Add Maida ( plain flour / all-purpose flour)
- Step 4 Add baking powder
- Step 5 add salt and mix it well
- Step 6 Add egg
- Step 7 Add oil
- Step 8 Add vanilla extract
- Step 9 add milk and whisk it well until combined
- Step 10 Add chopped dates and mix it well
- Step 11 Transfer the batter to the cake pan
- Step 12 Sprinkle brown sugar on top of the batter
- Step 13 Add butter on it
- Step 14 Pour boiling water over on the batter
- Step 15 Place the cake tray into the preheated oven.
- Step 16 Bake the cake at 180-degree Celsius or 356 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes. (Insert a toothpick at the center and see if it comes out clean. Else bake for 5 more minutes.)
- Step 17 Allow the cake to cool down completely.
- Step 18 Serve with icecream or whipped cream.
