FISH CURRY RECIPE /MEEN KULAMBU RECIPE preparation with step by step photos and quick video.  Northern red snapper fish is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids and potassium. It helps to reduces the  body weight and lowers blood pressure. I am not sure whether we can get these health benefits since i have used  the fried fish and more oil.  The fried fish will definitely  improve the curry taste and  it will get rid of the raw fish smell.  This is  a ideal fish curry to have with rice or  Kerala Paratha .

FISH CURRY RECIPE /MEEN KULAMBU RECIPE using Northern Red Snapper

Ingredients
  • Fish -1/2 kg(sankara meen/Northern Red snapper)
  • Grated Onion - 2 nos
  • Grated Tomato - 2
  • Ginger - 1 inch pounded
  • Garlic - 5 cloves pounded
  • Red chilli powder -2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
  • Salt -to taste
  • Tamarind puree-1 cup
  • For Marinate:
  • red chilli powder-2 tsp
  • turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
  • salt -to taste
  • To Temper:
  • Oil - for shallow fry
  • fennal seed - 1/2 tsp
  • fenugreek seed - 1/2 tsp
  • mustard seed -1/2 tsp
Directions
  • Step 1 Take a bowl add sankara meen(Northern Red Snapper) or any fish
  • Step 2 Add turmeric powder, chili powder and salt.
  • Step 3 Gently rub the spices on the fish and let it marinate for 15 minutes.
  • Step 4 Take a pan add oil and shallow fry the fish on both sides until slightly brown. Keep it aside.
  • Step 5 In the same oil pan add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, fennel seeds let it spautller
  • Step 6 Add grated onion and saute well
  • Step 7 Add pounded garlic & pounded ginger and saute till the onion turns brown.
  • Step 8 Add grated tomato saute well
  • Step 9 Add turmeric powder, chili powder, salt and saute well till the oil separates.
  • Step 10 Add tamarind puree and saute well
  • Step 11 Add water and mix it well and let it simmer for few minutes.
  • Step 12 Add shallow fried fishes and Cover the lid cook the fish on medium flame.
  • Step 13 Finally add coriander leaves
  • Step 14 Delicious fish curry is ready to serve..

  1. Take a bowl add sankara meen(Northern Red Snapper) or any fish
