Mushroom is not a vegetable. It’s a fungus. Mushrooms are rich in vitamin – B and it provides numerous health benefits including weight loss. In this recipe, I have used homemade biryani masala to make Mushroom Briyani. Its really easy to make non-veg biryani as meat adds flavours and even if you goof up, you would get a decent meal. But veg biryani is a different and spices, masala is very important to get it to taste great.

Ingredients
- Basmati Rice – 1 cup
- Mushroom – 1.5 cups
- Onion – 1 big chopped lengthwise
- Tomato -1 chopped roughly
- Ginger-Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
- Home Made Biryani Masala powder – 1/4 tsp
- Red Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- Water – 1.5 cups
- Salt – to taste
- Coriander leaves – 1/2 cup
- Mint leaves – 1/4 cup loosely packed
- Green Chillies – 2
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Ghee – 3 tbsp
- Bay leaf -1
- Cinnamon – 1/4 inch
- Cloves -2
- Cardamom -2
Directions
- Step 1 Before starting it, ensure that you have soaked the basmati rice for 30mins.
- Step 2 Heat a pressure cooker and add oil.
- Step 3 Add ghee.
- Step 4 Add Bayleaf -1,Cinnamon – 1/4 inch,Cloves -2,Cardamom -2
- Step 5 Add onion and saute it well
- Step 6 Add green chilli and saute it well
- Step 7 Add ginger garlic paste and saute it well
- Step 8 Add coriander leaves
- Step 9 Add mint leaves and saute it well
- Step 10 Add chopped tomato and saute it well
- Step 11 Add salt to taste and red chilli powder
- Step 12 Add coriander powder.
- Step 13 Add homemade biryani masala powder
- Step 14 Add Turmeric powder and saute it well until raw smell leaves
- Step 15 Add cleaned and washed mushroom and saute it well
- Step 16 Add curd and mix it well
- Step 17 Add soaked basmati rice and mix it gently(If you over mix, it will be broken)
- Step 18 Add 1.5 cups of water and mix it well
- Step 19 Add lemon juice and mix it well
- Step 20 Cover the lid and cook for 3 whistles.
- Step 21 Once pressure releases, fluff it carefully without breaking the rice.
- Step 22 Serve it hot with onion raita…. yummm !!!!
