But bread pudding gives smoothy texture and wobbling nature makes us feels like gelly. It is self-saucing too. We need only 5 ingredients to make this recipe. Good thing is that it doesn’t require egg. I have made this dish in steam and don’t require an oven. My son loves custard very much and he completed half of the portion. This is a deceptively simple recipe and this pudding is worthy of any special event too.

Caramel bread pudding recipe |Steamed caramel custard bread pudding preparation with step by step photos and a quick video.
Ingredients
- For caramel:
- Sugar -¼ cup
- For Custard:
- Bread -4 slice
- Milk -2 cup
- Sugar -¼ cup
- Custard powder -¼ cup, vanilla-flavored
Directions
- Step 1 Take 4 bread slices, and trim off the sides.
- Step 2 Transfer the mixer and pulse it.
- Step 3 The bread crumbs are ready to keep it aside
- Step 4 Take a pan and add sugar
- Step 5 Add water
- Step 6 Heat low flame until the sugar turns golden brown
- Step 7 Stir it well until sugar melts completely. Do not burn it, you may have to start over.
- Step 8 Caramelized sugar is ready
- Step 9 Pour the caramelized sugar into a small bowl and swirl slightly. Keep it aside.
- Step 10 Take a large pan and add milk
- Step 11 add sugar and bring ti boil for few minutes
- Step 12 Take a bowl and add custard powder
- Step 13 Add water and mix it well without lumps
- Step 14 Pour into the milk and stir it continuously
- Step 15 Add crumbled bread and mix it well.
- Step 16 Continue to cook until the mixture turns creamy and thick.
- Step 17 Pour the mixture into the bowl of caramelized sugar. Level up
- Step 18 Pat the dish gently to even out the surface
- Step 19 Place in the steamer for 30 minutes.
- Step 20 Cool completely and refrigerate for 1 hour or until it sets completely.
- Step 21 Unmould the pudding and enjoy
