Cotton Seed Milk Recipe / How to make Paruthi Paal/ Madurai Special Paruthi Paal preparation with step by step photos and a quick video.
Ingredients
- Cotton seeds(Paruthi)- 1 Tumbler (glass)
- Rice - ¼ th Tumbler (glass)
- Jaggery -1 Tumbler (glass)
- Cardamom powder - 1/4 th tsp
- Coconut milk -1 Tumbler (glass)
- Grated Coconut - 1/2 tsp (optional)
- Dry Ginger powder -¼ th tsp
Directions
- Step 1 Take a bowl and add cotton seeds
- Step 2 Add water and wash the cotton seeds 4-5 times. Remove the stuck cotton.
- Step 3 Soak it in water for at least 12 hours.
- Step 4 In another bowl, soak rice for 12 hours
- Step 5 Take a mixer jar and add washed/cleaned cotton seeds
- Step 6 Add soaked rice
- Step 7 Add a cup of water and grind it.
- Step 8 Pour the grounded mixture to filter the milk from the cotton seeds
- Step 9 Take a heavy bottom pan and add cotton seeds milk. when the cotton milk comes to boil, reduce the flame.
- Step 10 In the low flame, boil for 8 mins and keep on stirring.
- Step 11 Once it becomes little thick, add jaggery and mix it well
- Step 12 Boil for 3 minutes
- Step 13 Add coconut milk and mix it well
- Step 14 Add Crushed cardamom
- Step 15 Add dry ginger powder and mix it well
- Step 16 Garnish with grated coconut
