
Mackerel Fish Curry /Fish Kuzhambu With Coconut preparation with step by step photos and a quick video. Mackerel is an oily fish variant. Oily fish types are rich in omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids which is good for Heart. I am not a big fan of Mackerel fish but started loving it after having this gravy. This curry will be a perfect dish for lunch along with white rice/Red rice. Coconut mixture makes this curry little mild and it’s up to the individual’s taste.

Mackerel Fish Curry /Fish Kuzhambu With Coconut preparation with step by step photos and a quick video.

Ingredients
- Mackerel fish(ayala fish)- ½ kg
- Mustard - 1 tsp
- Fenugreek seed(methi seed) - ¼ tsp
- Curry leaves - few
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- For Masala
- Shallots (small onion)- ½ cup
- Coriander Seeds - 2 tbsp
- Tomato - 1 chopped
- Jeera - 1 tsp
- Fennel(Sombu/Saunf) - 1 tsp
- Pepper (Milagu/Kali mirch)- ½ tsp
- Garlic - 6 pearls
- Ginger - ½ inch
- Coconut - ¼ th cup
Directions
- Step 1 Take a pan and add oil.
- Step 2 Add coriander seeds and saute it well
- Step 3 Add jeera
- Step 4 Add Pepper (Milagu/Kali mirch)
- Step 5 Add Fennel(Sombu/Saunf) and saute it well
- Step 6 Add red chilli and saute it well. keep it aside
- Step 7 Add oil
- Step 8 Add ginger
- Step 9 Add garlic and saute it well
- Step 10 Add small onions and saute it well
- Step 11 Add tomato and saute it well until its soft and mushy
- Step 12 Once it’s Cooldown, transfer to the mixer. Grind it into a smooth paste.
- Step 13 Heat a pan and add oil.
- Step 14 Add Fenugreek seed(methi seed)
- Step 15 Add mustard seeds and let it splutter
- Step 16 Add green chilli
- Step 17 Add curry leaves
- Step 18 Add the prepared masala paste and saute it well
- Step 19 Add tamarind extract and mix it well
- Step 20 Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix it well
- Step 21 Add required water and mix it well
- Step 22 Cook it for 10 minutes
- Step 23 Add Mackerel fish(Ayala fish) and mix gently
- Step 24 Cook it for 10 minutes. Until the flavours are absorbed well.
- Step 25 Add coriander leaves and mix it well
- Step 26 Serve it with white Rice /Red rice.
