Hyderabadi Nizami biryani | Simple Hyderabadi Style Briyani preparation with step by step photos and a quick video. Hyderabadi Nizam Briyani – A delicious medley of fine long grain rice spices and chicken pieces, this Hyderabadi biryani is super easy. It’s a perfect recipe for home preparation too. Unlike other biryanis, we no need to saute the spices or chicken. Just need to marinate the chicken with curd and required masala spices on a heavy bottom pan. Prepare the half-cooked basmati rice and layer it on the marinated chicken. Cooking is a key part to makes the biryani great. Use heavy bottom old Tawa and keep the biryani pan on top of it. Follow the exact timelines as given in the procedure below. Trust me even a beginner can try without much fuss.

Ingredients
- For Marination:-
- Chicken - ½ kg
- Ginger,Garlic paste -2 tbsp
- Turmeric Powder- ½ tsp
- Red Chili Powder - 2 tbsp
- Coriander Powder - 1 tbsp
- Garam Masala Powder - ½ tsp
- Cumin powder (Jeera) -1 tsp
- Chicken masala powder - 1 tbsp
- Cloves (Karampu/Lavang) - 2
- Cinnamon stick (Pattai/Dalchini) - 1 inch
- Cardamom - 3
- Shah jeera - ½ tsp
- Bay leaf(tej patta)-1
- Finely Chopped Coriander- 2 tbsp
- Finely Chopped Mint Leaves - 1 tbsp
- Salt -to taste
- Curd /yogurt -½ cup
- Fried Onion- ½ cup
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- For Rice:-
- Water- 6 cup
- Basmati Rice -1½ cup,soaked 20 minutes
- Cinnamon stick (Pattai/Dalchini)-1 inch
- Cloves (Karampu/Lavang)-2
- Cardamom(Elachi)-2
- Shah jeera - ½ tsp
- Salt- to taste
- Finely Chopped Coriander- 1 tbsp
- Finely Chopped Mint Leaves - 1 tbsp
- Oil - 1 tsp
- For making Biryani:-
- Ghee - 2 tbsp
- Fried Onions - 2 tbsp
- Finely Chopped Coriander- 1 tbsp
- Finely Chopped Mint Leaves - 1 tbsp
Directions
- Step 1 Take heavy-bottom pan and add chicken pieces
- Step 2 Add curd/yogurt
- Step 3 Add turmeric powder
- Step 4 Add red chili powder
- Step 5 Add coriander powder
- Step 6 Add jeera powder
- Step 7 Add chicken masala powder
- Step 8 Add garam masala powder
- Step 9 Add ginger garlic paste
- Step 10 Add salt
- Step 11 Add shah jeera
- Step 12 Add oil
- Step 13 Add finely chopped coriander
- Step 14 Add finely chopped mint
- Step 15 Add fried onion
- Step 16 Add cinnamon stick (Pattai/Dalchini)
- Step 17 Add cloves (Karampu/Lavang)
- Step 18 Add cardamom
- Step 19 Add ghee
- Step 20 Mix all these ingredients nicely with your hand and marinate for 2 hours.
- Step 21 Take a pan and add water
- Step 22 Add shah jeera
- Step 23 Add cinnamon sticks
- Step 24 Add cardamom
- Step 25 Add clove
- Step 26 Add finely chopped coriander
- Step 27 Add finely chopped mint
- Step 28 Add oil
- Step 29 Add salt
- Step 30 Boil the water for 2 minutes
- Step 31 Add the soaked rice to it.
- Step 32 Cook this rice till it’s ¾ . Drain excess water
- Step 33 Take marinated chicken
- Step 34 Add half-cooked rice and spread it well
- Step 35 Add chopped coriander leaves
- Step 36 Add chopped mint leaves
- Step 37 Add fried onions
- Step 38 Pour the melted ghee on top of the rice. If you have saffron, pour the saffron milk.
- Step 39 Place the biryani pan on the stove and keep the lid on the pan. If you can’t control the flame, place pan on the old tawa or griddle.
- Step 40 Cook on a medium-low flame for 15 to 20 mins. Then lower the flame to very low and cook for another 10mins
- Step 41 Switch off the stove and let it rest for at least 10mins.
- Step 42 Remove the lid carefully and your delicious Biryani is ready to be served

20. Mix all these ingredients nicely with your hand and marinate for 2 hours.
21. Take a pan and add water
22. Add shah jeera
23. Add cinnamon sticks
24. Add cardamom
25. Add clove
26. Add finely chopped coriander
27. Add finely chopped mint
28. Add oil
29. Add salt
30. Boil the water for 2 minutes
31. Add the soaked rice to it.
32. Cook this rice till it’s ¾.
33. Drain excess water
34. Take marinated chicken and add half-cooked rice and spread it well
35. Add chopped coriander leaves
36. Add chopped mint leaves
37. Add fried onions
38. Pour the melted ghee on top of the rice. If you have saffron, pour the saffron milk.
39. Place the biryani pan on the stove and keep the lid on the pan and seal it with paper. If you can’t control the flame, place pan on the old tawa or griddle.
40. Cook on a medium-low flame for 15 to 20 mins. Then lower the flame to very low and cook for another 10mins. Switch off the stove and let it rest for at least 10mins.
41. Remove the lid carefully and your delicious Biryani is ready to be served
