Restaurant-style chicken handi | Murg Handi a mild and creamy and so flavourful chicken curry. This chicken handi is a yogurt-based curry so you can feel the mildness and creaminess. The name “HANDI” stands for a clay pot or a deep, wide-mouthed cooking vessel. If you don’t have a clay pot, not a problem guy this curry can be prepared in a pan as well. Restaurant Style Chicken Handi | Murgh Handi Recipe preparation with step by step photos and a quick video.
Ingredients
- Chicken- ½ kg
- Ginger Garlic paste- 1tbsp
- Salt - to taste
- Onions -2 ,fine chopped
- Tomatoes -2 chopped
- Green Chillies - 2
- Ginger-1 inch,julienned
- Coriander- 2 tbsp,chopped for garnish
- Cumin seeds- ½ tsp
- Turmeric Powder½ tsp
- Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
- Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
- Garam Masala Powder - ½ tsp
- Crushed Black Pepper - ½ tsp
- Dry Fenugreek Leaves, dry roasted & powdered- 1 tsp
- Curd or Yogurt - 3 tbsp
- Fresh Cream- 4 tbsp
- Oil- 3 tbsp
- Water -¼ cup
Directions
- Step 1 Heat a pan and add oil
- Step 2 Add jeera and saute and splutter
- Step 3 Add chopped onion and saute it for 5-6 mins until golden brown
- Step 4 Add ginger garlic paste and saute it for few minutes until raw smell leaves
- Step 5 Add chopped tomato and cook on medium heat for 3-4 mins untill soft.
- Step 6 Add turmeric powder
- Step 7 Add red chili powder
- Step 8 Add coriander powder
- Step 9 Add garam masala powder
- Step 10 Add salt and saute for a minute
- Step 11 Add cleaned and washed chicken and saute in medium heat for 3-4 mins
- Step 12 Add curd and mix it well. Cook for 3 mins until oil separates
- Step 13 Add water and mix it well
- Step 14 Cover the lid and cook for 10 minutes in low heat until the chicken is tender and oil separates.
- Step 15 Add chopped green chili
- Step 16 Add roasted & powdered Kasuri methi
- Step 17 Add pepper powder
- Step 18 Add julienned the ginger and mix it well
- Step 19 Give a mix and simmer for 2-3 mins till oil separates.
- Step 20 Add coriander and mix it well
- Step 21 Enjoy yummy restaurant style chicken handi with hot rice or roti
